Iowa Teenage Republicans

Our Projects

Chairman TJ Augustine lead teenagers in his home town of Fort Dodge in interviewing city manager candidates.  The mayor of Fort Dodge asked TJ if he would get some teenagers to participate for the interviews decing the next city manager.  Fort Dodge voted last year to change to a city manager form of government.

One of the ongoing projects of the Iowa Teenage Republicans is to issue surveys to teenagers across the state.  By doing this we are gathering the issues that matter most to teenagers in Iowa.  We will then send these results to state and national leaders so they know the opinion of the future of this nation.

Our Long Term Goal

Our more long term goal is to have a community showcase.  We have been in contact with the White House, the White House council's office, and the National Republican Party to see if we can get something done with this.  We want to have several national key note speakers but also have area TAR members and area schools show the talent Iowa student's have.  For example there might be a speech by Senator Charles Grassley, then next a performance from the Iowa Falls band.  This showcase will give Iowa the national spotlight, show why Iowa is a great place to raise a family.  It also gives teenagers an oppurtunity to participate in something huge and shows teens they matter so much that this national level speaker took time out of their schedule to honor Iowa students.

 Election 2004 Project

The Teenage Republicans of North Central Iowa recently held elections at Fort Dodge Senior High, Fort Dodge Saint Edmond, and Southeast Webster. A little over one thousand ballots were returned. Here are the final results: George Bush - 522, John Kerry - 491, Ralph Nader - 49. One note Southeast Webster used ballots provided by the Secretary of State and it was different from the TAR ballot. In the Senate race, incumbent Charles Grassley won with 744 votes compared to challenger Art Small’s 133. In the 4th Congressional race office holder Tom Latham also won with 700 votes in comparison to 328 votes by Paul Johnson
