Chairman Augustine Endorses John McCain

Today the Chairman of the Iowa Teenage Republicans officially endorsed John McCain. "I believe he has the leadership and vision to win in November and take our nation forward in this critical time in history." said Augustine in a statement announcing his decision. Augustine endorsed no one before the Iowa Caucuses. Augustine said his endorsement came from talking to Sen. Jon Kyl on caucus night, his belief that McCain can win in November, and the foreign policy experience the Senator has that is needed in the War against Terror. While the Iowa Teenage Republican Federation as an organization will not endorse, Chairman Augustine and all the members of the Iowa Teenage Republicans are free to support who they choose.

Iowa teens churn out activism in Ames
AMES, Iowa (CNN) — While the Republican candidates are courting the 35,000 or so attendees at the Ames straw poll, there is one GOP organization that is targeting a voting bloc — many of whom might not yet be old enough to cast a vote for president.

The Iowa Teenage Republicans, a statewide organization founded just before the 2004 election, makes it their mission to encourage political participation among teenagers.

"I really want teenagers to get involved and look at the issues," said T.J.
Augustine, chairman of the organization.

Augustine said he's not personally endorsing any Republican presidential candidate just yet, but he has met with them individually and visited their tents at the Iowa Republican Party sanctioned straw poll. He's encouraging other young voters to do the same.

"Be an active citizen because we're the future of this country," he said. "There's someone out there in my generation who's going to be the future president of the United States of America."

And even though the word "Republican" is in the name of the group, Augustine said it's not strictly a partisan group.

"We let Democrats join because they don't have an organization like this, and our main goal is getting teenagers involved in the government," he said.

Iowa Teenage Republicans

Our Mission

The Iowa Teenage Republican Federation is an organization designed to give youth a role and voice in our national government. We will work closely with our state and national leaders to accomplish this goal. We will notify our leaders about the issues that affect the teenagers of today. To gather these views, we will issue surveys to high school students across Iowa. We will then relay the results of these surveys to our elected leaders. We hope to visit local middle and elementary schools to teach younger students about the United State's government, election process, and judicial system. We are able to register citizens of legal age to vote and participate in the event that this nation covets so much, democracy . We are the Iowa Teenage Federation. This is our mission.

ELECTION 2008

Iowa Caucuses

One of the ongoing projects of the Iowa Teenage Republicans is to issue surveys to teenagers across the state. By doing this we are gathering the issues that matter most to teenagers in Iowa. We will then send these results to state and national leaders so they know the opinion of the future of this nation.

Hello and welcome fellow Iowans to the State of Iowa Teenage Republican Federation website. Just recently Iowa formed a state federation. It is my greatest honor to be able to take chairmanship of this new program. I truely look forward to the future ahead and what we the Iowa Teenage Republicans can do for our state. I welcome Republicans and Democrats alike to join for our number one responsibility is to keep teenagers involved in our government. I want to emphasize to teenagers that politics isn't just about Washington but also cities and towns here in Iowa. Teenagers right now see politics as nasty television commercials and people paid big money over in Washington who could care less about them. The Iowa Teenage Republicans is here to reverse that. We have so much to look forward to and you can bet the Iowa Teenage Republicans will be there every step of the way.

-TJ Augustine
